The dark background, combined with the many multicoloured triangles inside the fawn border, contrasts beautifully. Seven tassels line three of the cushion's outer edges, each with bold streaks of colour in each dark tassel. This accents the cushion's body and enhances its features. This small cushion is another great example of repurposing: a chanteh bag made by the Baluch, an ethnic group indigenous to Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan, who are well known as a nomadic Sunni Muslim group who largely live from the land. They utilise their craft skills in weaving, making items often decorated with tassels, beads or shells, which are traded for goods they could not produce. These bags have now been turned into wonderful small decorative cushions. The pieces were probably made more than half a century ago, perhaps even nearer 100 years. Each cushion in this curated collection is hand-knotted using vegetable dyes and hand-spun wool. Both sides of the bags were knotted, and so they are completely reversible; they will have some signs of age, which is to be expected and enjoyed. We hope you love these handcrafted pieces as much as we do. They will undoubtedly bring a sense of their history and past to your home, where we are sure they will be admired and appreciated.
