Georg Jensen Alfredo Green Glass Vase

This Alfredo vase has something of the space age about it, with its broad, rounded body perched on a pedestal foot. Designed by Alfredo Häberli for Georg Jensen, it is a contemporary piece that would sit very comfortably among mid-century glass. There is something rather 1960s about its shape, although the design was introduced in 2015. Its generous curves give it a strong sculptural presence, with or without flowers. Mouth-blown glass, marked “Georg Jensen Denmark” to the base. Height 25 cm; diameter 22.3 cm. Excellent condition, with no watermarks. No original box. Collector’s Note Alfredo Häberli is a Swiss-Argentinian designer whose work includes the Essence glasses and striped Origo tableware for Iittala. Born in Buenos Aires and based in Zurich, he often combines simple forms with an unexpected detail—a quality particularly evident in this vase’s proportions. The vase’s green colour was developed specifically for Georg Jensen in collaboration with Sweden’s Glafo Glass Research Institute. The colour is as much a part of Häberli’s design as the shape.
