Cylinder Amber Alabaster Vase and Candleholder

The dark amber veins of this cylindrical candleholder become even more pronounced when lit. The entire object emits a soft, diffused, creamy light that’s unique to the stone. Artisans in Egypt use alabaster hewn from mountains in the Luxor area to handcraft these stunning pieces. Sculpting chunks of multi-hued alabaster into perfectly smooth candle holders is a painstaking, multi-step process. The cutting is done gradually over several days to ensure the fine crystals in the stone don’t break, and pieces are glued and wrapped in cotton at night to “rest”.
