Little Brown Dog Glen Elgin 2013

This is a fairly special expression of a workhorse distillery however, from a single refill Pineau des Charentes barrique. Wonderful texture and great balance, presented using a less common cask type. The label is of meadows and a grasshopper. As a teen, Andrew was sent off to a tiny wee village with his brother in the Charentes region of France for a summer. Here, they would stay with some distant relatives, improve their French and keep their Grandmother happy. Well, the improvement in French was pretty dubious but the two younger brothers did get a taste for the local aperitif, Pineau, and spent a lot of time trying to catch grasshoppers, on hot days in the meadows that surrounded the vines.
