In this scene, Angelica, the daughter of the king of Cathay is captured and chained to a rock in the sea, intended to be offered as a sacrifice to a sea monster. King Ruggiero then comes to her rescue and saves her by defeating the beast. A vibrant and eye-catching piece, full of colour and mainly light pastel tones, subtly playing with light and shadow.
