Large, high-quality, and highly detailed plaster copy of the so-called Cavallo Arabo after a model by Gaetano Monti of Milan (1750/51–1827). The original was created around 1819 and is considered one of the best-known animal sculptures of the Italian Neoclassical period. Owing to its masterful anatomical modeling, the sculpture served as a study model for artists over generations and was reproduced numerous times in plaster and bronze. The figure is mounted on a modern black metal base.
