Tasting notes Apricot, Black Tea, Milk Chocolate Farmers Local farmers to Badeyi Washing Station Beshasha Region Jimma Zone Country Ethiopia Variety 74110, 74112 heirloom varieties Process Washed Altitude 2,000 - 2100 masl Mustefa Abakeno is a dedicated coffee entrepreneur from Beshasha in the Jimma Zone of Western Ethiopia. He started with a 18 hectare farm and purchased a coffee pulper. This enabled him to produce exceptional, fully washed coffees. In 2018 there were some country wide regulatory changes which enabled him to become a exporter directly to discerning buyers. This was just the beginning of him expanding, and in 2022 he acquired four further collection points for farmers to bring their coffee cherries to. One of these is Badeyi where this coffee comes from. These cherries are then taken to his main washing station where his staff pay meticulous attention to detail to produce this stunning coffee. Apricot flavours burst through at first, followed by a lovely, black tea note that becomes more apparent as the coffee cools. This is backed up with a milk chocolate note that rounds out this delicious example of a washed Ethiopian. Art by Miriam S Aspden
