Sometimes called globe amaranth, Gomphrena produces distinctive globe-shaped blooms in vibrant shades of pink, purple, red, and white. Unlike delicate, flat edible flowers, Gomphrena has a sculptural, three-dimensional shape that makes it especially beautiful for adding height, texture, and pops of color to your designs. Grown and hand-harvested on our USDA Certified Organic farm in Pennsylvania, our Gomphrena is grown specifically for culinary use. How to Use Fresh Gomphrena Gomphrena is edible, but the flower heads have a naturally firm, fibrous texture. For that reason, we recommend using the blooms primarily as an edible decorative garnish rather than eating the entire flower whole. Use whole flower heads to decorate cakes and desserts, float them in cocktails or mocktails, or scatter them across grazing and charcuterie boards. For a softer touch, pull the tiny individual florets from the flower head and sprinkle them over desserts, drinks, salads, or other dishes. The sturdy blooms are also wonderful for creating floral clusters on cakes.
