In-Studio Full Weekend Sewing Course A guided sewing class for makers of all abilities Join our welcoming in-studio sewing weekend, perfect for anyone looking to build confidence, refine techniques, or tackle their next sewing challenge. Whether you're a progressing beginner or a more experienced sewist, you’ll choose a pattern suited to your skill level—and our expert tutor will support you every step of the way. With personalised guidance on fit, construction, and technique, you’ll work at your own pace while developing strong foundations in garment making. This is a free-style class where everyone works on their own project, making it a relaxed and inspiring way to learn at your own pace. If you can’t see the exact garment you want to sew on our list of sewing classes, then this is the session for you. You choose the pattern, we help you sew it. Working from our brand new venue in Plymouth’s Museum, The Box you will have great access to a number of facilities. The Make shop is just opposite, the Box’s café is right there for any extra refreshments you may need and the workshop space is bright, professional and ready for you to come and be creative. What You’ll Learn Depending on your chosen pattern, you may cover techniques such as: Understanding pattern details, tracing, markings, and sizing Achieving the perfect fit with guidance on adjustments Inserting zips (invisible or exposed) Sewing darts, tucks, pleats, and gathers Creating neat, durable buttonholes (Topics vary depending on the project you bring.) Make sure you read all about your teacher, each teacher brings different expertise to the class as well as each having a friendly professional teaching manner which make them the perfect teachers for our workshops. What You’ll Need Sewing machine We have a limited number available to borrow—please let us know at the time of booking if you need one. Basic sewing kit Your chosen pattern and required materials We’re happy to advise on pattern selection. Please discuss your project with us when booking so we can prepare for your first session.
