Doors open 10 minutes before the workshop and close 5 minutes after we begin. There will be a break halfway through. ABOUT THE CLASS: This one-day workshop explores the making of lidded vessels on the potter’s wheel, focusing on the technical relationship between two independently thrown forms that are designed to function as one. Through demonstrations and guided exercises, participants will explore different approaches to throwing lids and galleries, learning how to control measurements, proportions, thickness, and fit while working with the natural movement and shrinkage of clay. Beyond the technical challenge of achieving a precise fit, the workshop will look at the lid as an integral part of the overall form. Particular attention will be given to proportion, profile, handles, and the visual relationship between vessel and lid, exploring how functional decisions can become opportunities for developing a more personal language on the wheel. The day is conceived as an intensive technical laboratory, giving participants practical methods they can continue to apply and develop independently in their own practice. *workshop tickets are NON REFUNDABLE and NON TRANSFERABLE if the request to cancel is made within 72 hours of the event.
