Mickey Mouse — the most universally recognised cartoon character in the history of popular culture — is here rendered mid-motion, cape billowing, caught in a moment of dynamic gesture, but stripped of all colour and surface finish: the figure is entirely grey, matte, monolithic, as if excavated from ash or cast from concrete. The effect is at once monumental and melancholic — an icon of joy made archaeological, frozen in time, preserved and eroded simultaneously. The "Hollow" designation in the title carries Arsham's characteristic conceptual weight: the figure is structurally present but materially emptied of its original meaning, the colour and gloss that define Mickey's identity replaced by the grey uniformity of ruin.
