[Pre-Order] Jade Gross Harrobia 2024
This is the first vineyard I acquired when I began my project. Right below the Sierra de Toloño in Rioja Alavesa (Basque country-side Rioja), it is a cool vineyard with bush vines planted on limestone, clay and sandstone soil. This results in a very long growing period for Tempranillo. The grapes have higher acidity and a sense of freshness in a red wine. Harrobia is Basque for La Cantera, the name of the plot (Quarry in English). Sourced from this west-facing single plot vineyard, the 39 year-old bush vines grow over limestone-clay and sandstone soils at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level. The grapes were hand-harvested in crates on September 29th 2024. 30% of the bunches were left whole-bunch. Fermentation took place in open-top vessels. The wine then aged in French oak barrels, mostly 500 liters for 13 months, of which 30% were new. Production bottle: 2250 bottles
