One Small Boy
London: MacGibbon & Key, 1957. First Edition. Publisher's black cloth with the excellent and unclipped dust-jacket by Gerard Dillon, couple of short closed tears to rear panel, but a nice bright copy. A few light spots of foxing to endpapers. Without old inscriptions etc. Bill Naughton (1910-92) is best remembered for his 1965 play 'Alfie'. This is probably the most autobiographical of his novels, concering a family of Irish emigrants in a Lancashire cotton manufacturing town; self-discovery among the slagheaps and terraced streets.
