Studio Acoustic Corner Wave Bass Traps - Obsidian™
Techlite® Corner Bass Traps in Obsidian™ are developed for architects, interior designers, and sound engineers who need targeted low-frequency control within interior environments. Manufactured from Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam, these traps are positioned in corner conditions where bass energy naturally accumulates, helping to stabilize room response in studios, media spaces, and other acoustically sensitive interiors. The form is optimized to address low-frequency pressure zones without introducing unnecessary visual bulk. For sound engineers, this results in tighter bass response and improved overall accuracy. For architects, it provides a purposeful solution that integrates into room geometry. For interior designers, the Obsidian™ finish offers a deep, consistent tone that complements modern palettes while minimizing visual distraction. Beyond acoustic performance, Techlite® Corner Bass Traps support sustainability-driven design goals. Basotect® Ecobalanced Melamine Foam contributes to responsible material selection and may assist in achieving LEED-related objectives, including Indoor Environmental Quality and Materials & Resources. The product is also Class A fire-rated per ASTM E84, meeting critical safety requirements for interior installations. Obsidian™ Coloration & Visual Character Obsidian™ is a deep, dark charcoal acoustic foam with subtle blue undertones. Depending on lighting conditions, it can range from a rich charcoal gray to a dark navy hue—and when installed in high ceilings or low-light environments, it presents as visually black. The result is an acoustic material that integrates seamlessly into contemporary architecture while delivering the performance Techlite® is known for. For applications requiring an ultimate, rich black appearance, Obsidian™ panels may be coated utilizing Techlite®’s proprietary paint system.
