Dozens of hand-milled oak reeds rise in unbroken vertical cadence, catching low light the way a concert hall ceiling catches sound. The room slows around it. Close in, the frame still carries the resinous warmth of freshly oiled European Oak — a scent no factory finish has ever produced. The recessed plinth lets the bed hover, monolithic and weightless at once. To sleep within solid timber is to borrow its patience; rest becomes a structural condition, not a hope. THE ANATOMY The Kannelur is milled from Grade-A FSC-certified European Oak, kiln-dried to 8% moisture for lifelong dimensional stability. Every flute is shaped from solid stock — never an applied moulding, never a wrapped veneer. No MDF. No composite cores. No fillers. Rails meet headboard through full mortise-and-tenon joinery, reinforced at each load node with concealed steel — engineering an architect can specify without caveat. The recessed plinth base anchors the frame flush to the floor, eliminating leg-point stress entirely. Inside, a sustainably sourced FSC beech slat system (graduated ergonomic flex tension, no centre legs required) supports any mattress construction. One frame, five hand-applied penetrating oil finishes — Natural, Light, Walnut, Black and Rosewood — each feeding the grain rather than sealing it, deepening with decades.
