The Black Crag Backpack in Orange
John Campbell began making his own gear at sixteen, in the mountains of Alaska, on his mother's sewing machine. Decades of climbing — the Alps, the Eastern Sierra, the Cordillera Real — refined his understanding of what a pack should and should not be. Alpine Luddites, his one-man shop in Vermont, is the result: custom packs built by a single pair of hands to standards that most production gear cannot meet. The Black Crag is John's interpretation of the Chouinard Equipment Creag Dubh, the benchmark alpine rucksack of the 1970s. Patterned directly from the original, it is built from ballistic nylon with leather lash patches pressed and hand-cut to match those used by Chouinard Equipment. At 26 litres and 28 ounces, it carries everything a day in the mountains requires — and nothing it doesn't. The OST edition is also offered in Blue.
