Z-Wave Mesh Network Communication Overview Z-Wave smart home systems use a wireless mesh network where commands are relayed between devices and confirmed upon completion. Control can be direct or routed through a central gateway, and automated scenes may add a small processing delay. A response time of 0.5–2 seconds is normal depending on network size and signal path.
