●26-TY-133 Yohen Black Karatsu octagonal sake bottle
Number : E00864 Artist : Yukiko Tsuchiya Area : Karatsu, Saga Material : Pottery clay Size : approx. Φ104 × H124㎜ Exhibition Venue: KYO AMAHARE In the naturally rich land of Karatsu, Saga, ceramic artist Yukiko Tsuchiya of Yukiko Kiln continues her practice. Her signature work, “Kuro Karatsu,” reveals a profound depth, showing a different expression each time it is held, shaped by the angle and play of light. Within its deep black surface emerge subtle, shifting landscapes, balancing a quiet presence with a sense of strength. As sake is poured and cups are raised, the vessel reveals yet another layer of character. With continued use, affection deepens, leaving a quiet lingering resonance in everyday drinking moments. *As each piece is entirely handmade, variations in size, shape, glaze application, and color may occur and may differ from the photographs shown. *We recommend preparing the vessel before use: soak it in warm water for hot dishes or in cold water for chilled dishes. *The glaze is sensitive to acidic ingredients such as vinegar; during the initial period of use, avoid prolonged contact with such foods. *At first, you may notice a pale, powdery surface; with repeated use and absorption of water, it will gradually deepen into a rich, lustrous black.
