SOLD Featured below is a nice example of impressive antique Japanese compass made in 1800’s in Meiji Period. The compass is made of lacquered wood with a nice dial, a compass needle in a form of an arrow and 40 mm diameter face. The compass is surrounded by a lacquered ring with 12 Chinese characters (directions of the Earthly Branches). The signature of the maker or one of the users is present on the compass cover. Dimensions : diameter 73 mm and height 37 mm.
