The solid color backing is made from handspun cotton and woven on a backstrap loom in Java and dyed with indigo dyes. The motif on this cushion is called beso or frogs stacked one on the other. Frogs are a symbol of the ancestor. When Timorese pray for rain, the frog appears, a sign that the ancestor has answered their prayers.
