Buraq and Mahakala Print
This print features the face of Mahakala from Buddhism, The horse Buraq from Islam, and several animals at the bottom who are all drawn in the style of Himalayan masks. Mahakala is an important diety. Buddhism grew out of Hinduism as many of the world's religions did. He is a character that grew out of Shiva just like Zeus is a character that grew out of the character Indra. He’s a very frightful god that terrorizes us at different stages of consciousness as we transition forward, but he is ultimately our helper and wants us to succeed. Buraq is a magical beautiful fair-faced horse that brought Muhammad to the seventh heaven and back again during the night journey. He also is said to have taken Abraham and other prophets on journeys into supernatural realms or over great distances. The words on this piece come from the Kalevala which is the Finnish epic poem and they are telling a character how to behave while going on an important journey. One that will mean a spiritual awakening. The original words are in Finnish and there are many translations that differ a great deal. I’ve sculpted the words just so, to fit my purposes. I hope you enjoy it! Here are the words as they appear on this poster: "Wander on your way now, find yourself at arrival You are to keep a careful head, ready with common sense Your understanding sound, your judgement rapid Ears sharpened at evening, eyes watchful at morning When you arrive, bring with you a clean mind and come alert Riches await" This is Certified Organic Intelligence Art! Everything about this print celebrates human creativity. It begins with a real person using good old-fashioned paper and pencil to create the entire piece. It’s then locally printed by a skilled artisan and carefully packaged by our team before being delivered to you. We sincerely thank you for your support!
