Two Little Adventurers

Prince Albert National Park, SK Spring in Prince Albert National Park often heralds the joy of sighting black bear cubs born earlier that year. Jason often says these young cubs resemble human children in fur coats—their playful nature, curious behavior, and lively antics are easily relatable. They have a remarkable ability to climb trees, a vital survival skill that helps them escape danger when needed. On this day, however, the two cubs were not fleeing from anything; they were simply playing tag while their mother fed on lush grasses below. As they grow through the summer at her side, climbing helps build their strength, confidence, and survival skills. Their mother, who might remain with them for up to three years, will teach them where to forage and how to move safely through their environment, and may remain with them for up to three years.
