Guillaume Black Calf Balmoral Boot - 722

A black Balmoral boot hides nothing. Every seam is on show, and on the Guillaume there are more of them than an Oxford ever asks for: closed lacing, one continuous Balmoral curve running from the laces back around the ankle to divide vamp from shaft, and a cap toe punched with a single line of fine perforations along its seam. Get one of those lines wrong and black is exactly where you'd see it. The upper is top-grade European calfskin, a deep box calf finished smooth — left clean rather than burnished, because black takes its depth from polish. Its 722 last runs long and lean with a slight chisel toe, the sleekest line we build. Goodyear welted by our artisans, one pair at a time, in a workshop in Almansa, on a full leather sole with a beveled waist. The most formal boot in the range, in the color that makes that legible from across a room. Under a dark suit it does an Oxford's job and adds an inch of intent; over dark denim it's the reason the rest of the outfit reads deliberate. Nobody needs to know how the waist was shaped for the line to register. No color asks more of the work. None shows it better.
