WordWeaver Sentence Building Wheel | Wooden Language Activity for Adults
WordWeaver Sentence Building Wheel WordWeaver is a wooden sentence-building wheel for language practice: three rotating rings of solid maple and cherry, one of subjects, one of verbs, one of objects, that combine into 512 possible sentences. Turn the rings, line up one word from each layer, and the back of the wheel asks the only question that matters once you start turning: how many can you find? Some land sensible. The farmer drives the tractor. Some land gloriously absurd. The squirrel writes the book. Either way, there is suddenly something to talk about, which is the entire point. The sensible ones practice grammar and word order; the ridiculous ones can spark a conversation on their own. The words are laser-engraved deep into the wood rather than printed, so they will not rub off no matter how many times the rings are turned. Designed for adults and seniors first WordWeaver is made for adults and seniors first, with real, everyday words and the feel of a solid wooden object rather than a children's toy. It is designed for the sentence-building and word-retrieval work speech-language pathologists do with patients, including recovery-oriented practice. It works as a low-pressure prompt for a senior center or memory-care table, whether a full group or a quiet one-on-one. It fits subject-verb-object order and vocabulary work in a classroom or ESL lesson. And it is open-ended enough to belong on a coffee table at home, a wheel of words built to invite a turn from anyone passing by. We make two word wheels. This is the one that builds sentences. Most word wheels are alphabet or spelling tools that swap one letter at a time. WordWeaver does the opposite: it stacks whole words and builds whole sentences. It is also not our Word Wheel Puzzle, which is a word-search brain teaser. Same shape, two completely different jobs, and this is the language one. Turned and engraved in Hudson, Florida Pete Janelle designed WordWeaver with a practicing speech-language pathologist who uses the Cognitive Challenge Series in her own work, and we cut and engrave it on the laser in our family workshop. WordWeaver is part of that Cognitive Challenge Series the two of them are developing. The rings are solid maple and cherry, stacked so the two tones read at a glance, and finished to turn smoothly under a thumb. It is 6.8 inches across and an inch thick, a real object with some weight to it, not a printout in a frame. Made by Creative Crafthouse and shipped from our Florida shop, usually within one business day. The people behind it are on our designers page. Pair it with the Talking Tree Picture Description Board for another hands-on language activity from our shop. Make it yours Every Creative Crafthouse piece can be personalized. Add a name or a short message with custom laser engraving when you order. WordWeaver is an educational and recreational activity, not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. For guidance on activities for a loved one, please consult a qualified healthcare provider.
