Set of Two Pewter Lidded Boxes, Germany. Early 20th century.

A set of two quite unusual but very lovely pill-shaped pewter boxes with stepped lids each adorned with a heavily worn knob, the smaller in the form of an acorn. Charmingly misshapen in places but overall in lovely condition for their age, showcasing a warm patina and a series of impressed stamps with angel motifs. The word 'Zinn' translates to pewter in German. I also suspect that this is a very early example of items being produced to be somewhat older than they actually are, as you wouldn't expect those marks to be as weathered and the date referenced on the main seal of 1635 is clearly not when these were produced.
