About The Work In 1986, my mother Rosario Morales and I published our first book, Getting Home Alive, with Firebrand Books. I was in charge of organizing the collection of poetry and personal narrative into a coherent manuscript. Once that was done, we felt we needed a way to end the book that tied it together, so we created this collage poem from favorite lines in a dozen individual pieces, a way of echoing and summing up the text. To our surprise, it’s been one of the most popular poems in the book. About The Broadsides Series Each broadside sets one of Aurora’s most popular texts into a work of digital collage that extends her words into visual form. The broadsides are printed in high resolution at 14" x 14", centered on 16" x 16" archival sugar cane paper. Broadsides are offered as a single piece for $200, two pieces for $370, or as a three-piece collection for $540.
