Vintage Japanese Brass Koro Shrine Incense burner
Dating to the mid 20th century this Brass Koro is typical of the type you would see on altars or in home shrines. Filled with Ash, incense sticks are pushed into the ash and lit to purify the air and soul. An elegant design, it has a lovely dark finish and weight to it. Found in Kyoto on our most recent trip in May 2026 As can be seen in the photos there are some scratches to the dark surface revealing the brass underneath. A bag of Shoyeido Miyako white ash will be included to use with the koro. Measures 12cm wide x 7.5cm tall
