Songwriter Series: Rick Fink + John Pronto

“Punk Americana” was the ethos for Rick Fink’s former roots/rockabilly band and it’s something that he carries into his solo work. Still driven by a DIY work ethic, the gonzo days of crowd surfing and bombast have been replaced by something more personal. A world where the song is king and soulful connection is everything. Rick's sets are still filled with singalongs and joking asides, but with more heart and quiet honesty. Clever wordplay is anchored to Beatlesque melodies, subtle and spare. Often stopping mid-song to share a thought or observation, Rick treats every audience as if they are sitting in his living room sharing stories and having a laugh. His latest EP, Welcome to the World is available for download and streaming on Bandcamp. CDs are available at shows and upon request. Rick’s first album, The Infinite Now & Then was released in 2019. Rick continues to tour solo throughout the Midwest & regionally. His former band Gas House Gorillas toured regularly across the USA and Europe. John Pronto blends the soul of folk, the grit of blues, and the wide open spirit of Americana into a sound that feels both timeless and deeply personal. His songs carry the weight of lived experience, telling stories of love, loss, redemption, and resilience with unfiltered honesty. With a voice that balances warmth and raw emotion, Pronto draws deeply from the storytelling traditions of American roots music, creating songs that stay with you long after they end. His first full length album, Marigold, was released on April 7th, marking a significant milestone in his artistic journey and further showcasing his ability to craft evocative, heartfelt songs. A seasoned performer, Pronto has brought his music to stages across the country, including appearances at Barefoot Country Music Fest and Into the Pines Music Festival. He has played legendary venues like The Stone Pony and House of Independents, while also performing in cities such as Nashville, Austin, Asheville, and Greenville. This summer, he continues to expand his reach with upcoming performances in Seattle.
