This construction provides the corrosion resistance associated with stainless steel while giving the point the hardness needed to drill consistently through light-gauge steel. Compared with conventional all-stainless DIN 7504K self-drilling screws, the bi-metal design offers trades a more dependable drilling action in suitable steel thicknesses while retaining an A2 stainless steel body above the fixing surface. They are intended for fastening aluminium sheet, panels and other components to light-gauge mild steel, and may also suit similar sheet-to-steel applications where the stated drilling capacity is appropriate. The unwashered hex-head format is suited to applications where a separate sealing washer is not needed or where a compact head arrangement is preferred. The coarse TEK 3 thread helps develop a secure fixing in thin steel sections, while the hex drive provides positive engagement for controlled installation.
