1. Introduction about ion exchange resin Indion 222 Na BL: Ion exchange resin Indion 222 Na BL is a brown to black coloured high capacity strongly acidic cation exchanger in bead form. It is based on cross-linked polystyrene and has a gel structure. The resin contains sulphonic acid functional groups. It is supplied moist in the sodium form produced by solvent-free process. 2. Applications of ion exchange resin Indion: Users primarily apply Indion 222 Na BL to soften water by removing calcium and magnesium ions and replacing them with sodium ions. In two-stage de-ionization systems, the resin serves as the cation exchanger operating in the hydrogen cycle. Before using the resin in potable water applications, users should rinse it with 20 bed volumes of water-preferably deionized (DI)- to ensure optimal performance. This resin provides an ideal solution for applications that require the effective removal of hardness ions to maintain system efficiency. 3. Regeneration Process: To maintain its effectiveness, 222 Na BL requires periodic regeneration using sodium chloride (NaCl). Regeneration Flow Rate: 2-4 BV/hr Salt Concentration: 10-15% (w/v) Contact Time: Minimum 20 minutes Rinsing Steps: Slow rinse (1-2 BV), followed by a fast rinse (3-4 BV) 4.
