Omega Seamaster ref. 2576 / 2518 RG Chronometer 14K Gold #3256 This is one of the most desirable vintage Omega watches of all time. In a configuration that is rarely seen. 1, Solid 14K gold case. 2, Cal.#343 Chronometer movement with the RG regulator. 3, Off-white HoneyComb dial and matching hand set, all in original untouched condition. We’re been collecting, servicing and selling vintage Omegas for the past 40 years and this is the first one of these we’re had that ticks all the boxes. This C-1950 Seamaster’s case measures 34mm w/o the crown and 41.6 and to our eye, the finish is original and unpolished except for the caseback. There may have been a scratch that someone removed and then refinished it to match its original look. The case top and lugs still have their original, untouched finish. All surfaces are flat and edges are sharp. Certainly there are a few marks and little scratches from past handling or the occasional wearing. I guess I would say “try to fine a more original finish from another 76 year old wristwatch in solid gold”. The bumper automatic chronometer movement is the in-house cal. 343 with the RG regulator. The Omega website information on this movement states it was introduced in 1949 and was limited to only 5000. The dial features its original Honeycomb finish with applied gold hour markers and gold Omega logo. Both the hours markers and hands still have their original luminous. Again, completely untouched! I have just completed a full service on this watch. The service included a correct and full movement overhaul, a new mainspring, a proper fitting crystal (crystals were not signed during this period) and lastly, we installed a period correct signed Omega crown. During service we ultrasonically cleaned the case only. BTW, if you notice in the inside caseback picture the black marks on the gasket seat. That was from the original lead gasket which was still present when I went to service the watch. This one sat in a collection untouched, unworn for a very long time. Lastly, in comes on a new Camel grain strap.
