Smallest are good for earrings Vintage lost wax cast beads made in Ghana or Cote d'Ivoire To make a lost wax cast bead, every single bead must first be made in wax. The wax bead is then covered in fine clay, dried, and then heated so the wax runs out. Next the newly created mold is filled with molten brass. Once cooled the mold is broken to release the bead, the mold cannot be re-used. Each bead is unique. Next steps involve cleaning, grinding off any traces of sprues, and polishing. This is a long and difficult process and small flaws are the norm. They distinguish these beads from machine cast copies. Only one set available
