Cyanotype Calendar Workshop with Sunprint Studio Discover cyanotype with Sunprint Studio, a playful sun-printing process where sun, wind and water become part of the making. Over 2.5 hours, you'll create personalised prints using botanical specimens, everyday treasures and personal images from home. Your collection of prints will then be bound into a spiral-bound 2027 calendar featuring your very own artwork. No experience needed. Bring something meaningful, come curious, and let the sun do its thing! About Sunprint Studio Founded by artist Balqis Tajalli in Langkawi, Sunprint Studio explores cyanotype, alternative printmaking through workshops, artist-made tools and slow, hands-on creative experiences. Rooted in everyday encounters with the natural world, the studio invites people to slow down, look closely and discover new ways of seeing and making. What to Bring 1. A few botanical treasures 🍂 Bring some interesting leaves, flowers, grasses, ferns or fallen plants from home. Look for interesting shapes, textures and silhouettes. Please only collect plants where you have permission to do so. 2. Everyday little things 💡 Have a rummage around your home! Bring small, relatively flat objects with interesting shapes or textures such as lace, mesh, ribbons, keys, paper cut-outs, feathers, buttons, doilies, textured materials and other little treasures. 3. Something that reminds you of home 🏡 Bring an object, botanical specimen or small keepsake that holds a personal memory or meaning. It could be something ordinary, sometimes the most familiar things make the most interesting prints. 4. Up to 4 personal images for cyanotype negatives 📸 You may submit a maximum of 4 images, which will be prepared as cyanotype negatives and arranged to fit within one A4-size transparency sheet. For the best results, choose images with: • Strong silhouettes and clear shapes • Good contrast between light and dark areas • Simple compositions rather than very busy details • People, plants, objects, places or moments that hold personal meaning • Photos that you won’t mind seeing transformed into a dreamy blue print! Tips: Click HERE for photo reference. Black-and-white or high-contrast images generally work best. What to Wear Cyanotype is a hands-on process involving sensitiser, water and rinsing, so things can get a little messy. Come in comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting wet or stained. Darker or older clothes are recommended, and comfortable shoes are a good idea. Note: An apron or old oversized shirt is also welcome if you'd like an extra layer of protection.
