AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards 2026

The AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards remain the only architectural awards in the UK dedicated exclusively to retrofit and adaptive reuse. They provide a platform for the projects, practices and clients demonstrating what can be achieved when we work with what already exists. At a time when the UK’s existing building stock is responsible for a significant proportion of our carbon emissions, we need to see a far greater drive to upgrade and adapt the buildings and infrastructure we already have. These awards are a call-out to clients, developers and policymakers: there is enormous opportunity in our existing built fabric, if we have the ambition, investment and policies to unlock it. In this publication you can see this year’s winning and shortlisted projects – nearly 110 schemes across 18 categories – which were judged by a panel of 28 industry experts.
