Sheepskin #2 - 21" x 31"

A very classic all around white lambskin that would be a good choice for a baby, a bedside rug, or couch throw. The wool is a little shorter and denser than #1 and averages about 1" in length, and the leather side is super soft with just a few minor score marks. I really like these ones for rugs because the wool is dense enough that it won't collect a lot of debris and they're easy to shake out. I believe this is one of the East Friesian cross lambs bred by Grassroots Dairy in Marshall and pasture raised by Good Wheel Farm in Sandy Mush NC - but some of them got mixed up with other skins that were processed at the butcher shop I collect from. This sheepskin was naturally veg tanned by me, and diverted from the waste stream of a butcher shop outside of Marion, NC. Approximate measurements taken from the leather side: 21" x 31" . This hide is tanned with mimosa (Acacia mearnsii) tannin extract, with additional ingredients used in the process including: salt, citric acid, Charlie's soap, and distilled vinegar. They are softened with sunflower seed lecithin and organic sunflower oil. Because the tanning and washing process I use does not involve harsh petroleum-derived solvents, and instead mostly handwork, the wool may contain seeds or small pieces of leaves and other vegetable matter, and it may also retain a faint smell of sheep and bark. Enjoy it! To care for this hide, air it out often, but when needed these are machine washable on a cold/gentle cycle!
