Double-Bell Bass Trombone, Part 4.
Deep inside the bell tube of a bass trombone, looking towards the bell and the outside world beyond. This extraordinary view reveals the formation of a beautiful blue patina, created as the copper within the brass begins to oxidise. The bell belongs to a far more complex instrument than the title might suggest: a custom double-bell bass trombone played by Ben Anderson of Orchestra Victoria in Australia. More photographs and details of this fascinating instrument can be seen here.
