A Type 2 / Class II DIN-rail SPD for sub-distribution panels, control panels, and equipment enclosures on 120 V circuits. It uses a 1+1 configuration: a high-energy MOV between line and neutral and a gas discharge tube (GDT) between neutral and protective earth. The protection module plugs into its base, so a spent module can be replaced without disturbing the wiring. A status window shows green when the module is healthy and red when it needs replacement. Specifications Manufacturer LEEYEE Model LY1-C40M+1-150 Type / class Type 2, Class II (IEC 61643-11) Configuration 1+1: MOV L-N, GDT N-PE Nominal AC voltage 120 V, 50/60 Hz Max. continuous operating voltage Uc 150 V (L-N), 132 V (N-PE) Nominal discharge current In (8/20 µs) 20 kA (L-N) / 20 kA (N-PE) Maximum discharge current Imax (8/20 µs) 40 kA (L-N) / 40 kA (N-PE) Voltage protection level Up 1.0 kV (L-N) / 1.5 kV (N-PE) Follow current interrupt rating Ifi 100 A rms (N-PE) Response time tA < 25 ns (L-N) / < 100 ns (N-PE) Back-up fuse (max) 63 A gL/gG Short-circuit current rating 25 kA TOV withstand, 5 s (L-N) 180 V TOV, 120 min (L-N) 230 V, withstand mode TOV withstand, 200 ms (N-PE) 1200 V Thermal protection Yes, with thermal disconnector Status indication Green = OK, red = defective Operating temperature -40 °F to +158 °F (-40 °C to +70 °C) Humidity 5% to 95% Altitude -500 m to 2000 m (80 kPa to 106 kPa) Conductor size, L and N (max) 5 AWG solid/stranded, 7 AWG flexible (16 mm² / 10 mm²) Conductor size, PE (max) 2 AWG solid/stranded, 4 AWG flexible (35 mm² / 25 mm²) Terminal torque L, N: 13.3 lbf·in (1.5 N·m); PE: 39.9 lbf·in (4.5 N·m) Mounting 35 mm DIN rail, EN 60715 Dimensions 90 mm H x 72 mm D, 18 mm per module Housing Thermoplastic, UL 94 V-0 flame rating Degree of protection IP20 Standards IEC 61643-11:2011, EN 61643-11:2012 Marks CE, RoHS, CB, EAC Remote contact option (S version) The LY1-C40MS+1 adds a remote signaling contact that changes state when the module fails. Wire it to a PLC input, BMS point, or indicator light to get an alarm without opening the panel. Switching capacity: AC 250 V / 0.5 A; DC 250 V / 0.1 A, 125 V / 0.2 A, 75 V / 0.5 A Conductor: 16 AWG solid (1.5 mm²) max Terminal torque: 2.2 lbf·in (0.25 N·m) Installation Connect line and neutral to the top terminals and protective earth to the bottom terminal. Install a back-up fuse or breaker of 63 A gL/gG maximum upstream of the SPD. Keep lead lengths short and straight; every extra inch of wire adds let-through voltage. The device is intended for TN-S and TT systems, which covers a 120 V branch or subpanel with separate neutral and ground conductors. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician. Applications 120 V control panels and PLC enclosures Building automation and BMS panels Lighting control and relay panels Network, telecom, and security equipment enclosures Branch protection for sensitive electronic loads What ships 1x LEEYEE LY1-C40M+1-150 SPD (base with plug-in module installed) Before you buy This SPD is certified to IEC 61643-11 and EN 61643-11. It is not UL 1449 listed. If your project or local inspector requires a UL-listed SPD, for example at a service entrance or in a panel subject to NEC Article 242 inspection, confirm acceptance before ordering. It is well suited to OEM control panels, equipment enclosures, and installations designed to IEC standards. Check the voltage rating. This model is for 120 V line-to-neutral circuits. For 230 V or 277 V circuits, use the 275 V or 320 V model. FAQ What does 1+1 mean? One protection element between line and neutral (MOV) and one between neutral and earth (GDT). The GDT blocks leakage current to ground under normal operation, so the device does not trip GFCI or RCD protection. How do I know when it needs replacing? The indicator window on the module turns from green to red. Pull the old module and plug in a new one of the same voltage rating. The base and wiring stay in place. Can I use it on a 120/240 V split-phase panel? No. This unit protects one 120 V line to neutral. A 120/240 V split-phase panel has two lines and needs an SPD rated for that configuration. Is the remote contact included? Only on the S version (LY1-C40MS+1). The standard version has the visual indicator only.
