The Hi-Temp plates are made from dense crumb rubber to absorb repeated impact, reduce noise and vibration, and help protect gym flooring. Because crumb-rubber bumpers are softer than dense solid-rubber plates, they have a higher, livelier rebound when dropped. That bounce is a normal characteristic of Hi-Temp-style plates and is part of what makes them effective at absorbing impact.
