Ethiopia - Wasa Sidama Honey Region: Bursa Woreda, Sidama Producer: Smallholders associated with the Wasa washing station Varietal: Local Landraces Altitude: 2100-2300 MASL Process: Honey We Taste: Black Tea, Pineapple Syrup, Melon Light Roast Located in Bursa Woreda in the south of Ethiopia at elevations of 2,100 to 2,300 meters above sea level, Wasa works with local farmers who cultivate coffee using traditional methods and maintain a deep connection to their land. That close relationship is reflected in every cup, with each lot carefully processed to preserve the depth and character of the cherries delivered to the station. Wasa is run by Daye Bensa Coffee, which opened the station in 2021 and works with about 240 farmers in the surrounding area. Daye Bensa was started by two coffee-producing brothers, Assefa and Mulugeta Dukamo, from the Bensa area of Sidama. More than 20 years on, it's one of Ethiopia's major coffee exporters, shipping green coffee from its own farms and from the farmers it partners with, across grades from conventional to specialty.
