Installation Guide — Professional Installation Recommended [View/Download Installation Instructions] GMC SIERRA DROP WINDSHIELD VISOR Give your GMC Sierra a substantially more aggressive custom appearance with a fiberglass drop windshield visor designed for 2014–2018 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks. This visor is designed as a custom aftermarket fiberglass body component and should be treated similarly to a fiberglass hood or other fiberglass body panel. Proper test fitting, preparation, finishing and installation are important to achieving the best final result. KEY FEATURES Designed for 2014–2018 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks Hand-laid fiberglass construction Aggressive custom appearance Exterior windshield-mounted drop visor design Supplied self-tapping mounting screws and washers Supplied Betaseal U-418 Quick Cure Primerless Urethane Windshield Adhesive Designed for professional preparation and installation Can be prepared and painted to match your vehicle WHAT'S INCLUDED Fiberglass Drop Windshield Visor Self-tapping mounting screws Betaseal U-418 Quick Cure Primerless Urethane Windshield Adhesive IMPORTANT: FIBERGLASS PREPARATION IS REQUIRED This visor is hand-laid fiberglass, not an injection-molded OEM plastic component. Because fiberglass is hand-produced, minor surface imperfections and variations can occur. Normal preparation should be expected before painting. Preparation typically includes: Test fitting Checking alignment and positioning Checking windshield and body clearance Checking windshield wiper clearance Minor trimming if necessary for fitment Sanding the gel coat Finishing minor imperfections Priming Final sanding and preparation Painting Professional body-shop preparation is recommended. If you have experience preparing fiberglass body panels, you may be comfortable handling the preparation yourself. Otherwise, we strongly recommend using a body shop experienced with fiberglass components. TEST FIT BEFORE PAINTING Do not paint the visor before completing the test fit. Test fitting is used to verify: Overall positioning Alignment A-pillar fitment Any minor trimming needed for a tighter fit Windshield clearance Windshield wiper clearance Visibility and potential interference with windshield-mounted sensors The installation guide provides approximately 20 inches from the top of the fenders to the bottom of the visor as a positioning reference. Confirm the position on the vehicle before marking the mounting locations. Once the visor is painted, avoid repeatedly moving it around the vehicle. Doing so can scratch the finished surface. INSTALLATION Professional installation is recommended. Installation requires drilling mounting holes into the A-pillars and working with a fiberglass body component. 1. Position the Visor Open both front doors. With one person on each side, position the visor at the top of the windshield and carefully lower it over the outside of the driver- and passenger-side A-pillars. Slide the visor downward until its inside surface contacts the A-pillars. Use even pressure and do not force the fiberglass, as excessive force can cause it to crack. Center the visor and check that it sits evenly on both sides. A small amount of grease on the A-pillars can help the visor slide into position. 2. Check Fitment & Wiper Clearance Verify the overall position and alignment. Check the fit around both A-pillars and determine whether minor trimming is needed for the desired fitment. Cycle the windshield wipers to ensure the blades do not contact the underside of the visor or its mounting standoffs. Reposition the visor if necessary and check again. Check the driver's field of view, rearview camera visibility and any sensors located in front of the rearview mirror before proceeding. 3. Mark & Drill Once the visor is correctly positioned, use tape to mark its location on both A-pillars. Mark the mounting-hole locations and verify safe drilling depth before drilling. Drilling is required for the supplied self-tapping mounting screws and washers. Confirm the mounting locations before making any holes. Remove the visor from the vehicle before beginning fiberglass preparation and painting. 4. Remove & Prepare for Paint Remove the visor and complete the required fiberglass preparation, including sanding the gel coat, finishing minor imperfections, priming and final surface preparation before painting. Complete any necessary test fitting and trimming before applying paint. 5. Apply Betaseal After the visor has been properly prepared and painted, clean the windshield contact area where the center standoffs will contact the glass. Apply the supplied Betaseal U-418 Quick Cure Primerless Urethane Windshield Adhesive to the three standoffs on the underside of the visor, as specified in the installation guide. 6. Secure the Visor With a helper supporting the visor, reposition it on the vehicle using the locations established during the test fit. Avoid smearing the urethane adhesive against the truck. Secure the A-pillar mounting points using the supplied self-tapping screws and washers. Press firmly at the standoff locations to seat the adhesive. Confirm that the visor remains aligned and that the windshield wipers have adequate clearance. 7. Allow to Settle Allow the installation to settle for 24 hours before driving. IMPORTANT PRODUCT EXPECTATIONS This is a custom aftermarket fiberglass component. It is not an OEM molded plastic part and should not be expected to have the exact uniformity or finish of an OEM component. Because the visor is hand-laid fiberglass: Minor surface imperfections may be present Minor finishing may be required Minor trimming may be necessary during test fitting Professional preparation is recommended Proper installation is critical to achieving the best finished appearance If you are looking for a part that arrives ready to paint and installs without preparation or drilling, this is not that product. IMPORTANT SENSOR & VISIBILITY WARNING This visor may affect visibility of the driver's view, rearview camera or sensors located in front of the rearview mirror. Some sensors may be blocked or deactivated while the visor is installed. Check your vehicle's equipment and confirm compatibility before purchasing. Verify visibility, camera operation, sensor compatibility and windshield wiper clearance before completing installation. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Which GMC Sierra models does this visor fit?
