Dining Room in the Country | Pierre Bonnard | 1913

In Dining Room in the Country, painted in 1913, Pierre Bonnard brings the interior of a house into close conversation with the garden beyond. Cool blue doors and a pale tablecloth meet the warmth of the surrounding walls, while a figure at the threshold gives the scene a human presence. Everyday objects, patterned surfaces and changing light form an intimate arrangement in which domestic life becomes a subject of sustained visual attention.
