John Baker a painter born in the parish of St Philip and Jacob, Bristol in 1844. He enlisted on the 24th January 1862 into the Military Train, transferring to the A.S.C. on the 22nd February 1870. He served in South Africa from 22nd February 1879 in the Zulu War, being posted home on the 9th October 1879. He was finally discharged on the 15th February 1882. This being his only medal entitlement. With copied service papers.
