ILMARI KUURA™ Finnish Sauna Salt Ritual ILMARI KUURA™ is part of the original KIUASSUOLA™ Finnish Sauna Ritual innovation developed around long-term sauna use, refill continuity and natural sauna materials. Designed for active home sauna use and premium sauna environments, ILMARI KUURA™ combines Finnish heat-storing soapstone with KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt to create a slower, softer and more balanced Finnish sauna experience. As heat, steam, stone and sauna ritual salt interact naturally throughout the sauna session, the atmosphere of the sauna gradually becomes calmer, gentler and more grounding over time. Rather than creating stronger heat or overwhelming stimulation, ILMARI KUURA™ is designed to support a quieter sauna rhythm inspired by authentic Finnish sauna culture. At the center of the concept is the reusable Finnish soapstone base placed directly on top of the heater stones. The base functions as the usage method for KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt, allowing the salt to respond gradually to sauna heat and humidity during regular sauna use. Unlike many traditional sauna salt products, ILMARI KUURA™ is designed as a long-term sauna ritual object intended to become part of continuous sauna use over time. The ILMARI KUURA™ soapstone base is produced in cooperation with Tulikivi®, one of Finland’s best-known soapstone and sauna heater manufacturers. How ILMARI KUURA™ Works ILMARI KUURA™ is placed directly on top of the sauna stones before heating the sauna, allowing the Finnish soapstone to gradually absorb and store heat throughout the heating process. KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt is placed inside the soapstone base before sauna use. Sauna water is poured normally onto the sauna stones — not directly onto the ILMARI KUURA™ base itself. The natural moisture and steam reaching the product are sufficient to activate the sauna ritual salt as part of the sauna atmosphere. This slower interaction helps maintain: • a softer sauna rhythm • a calmer sauna atmosphere • longer KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt lifespan • a more stable soapstone temperature • a more balanced sauna experience over time One KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt typically lasts approximately two months with sauna use twice per week. Refill & Long-Term Sauna Use KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt forms the core of the ritual, while ILMARI KUURA™ enables a slower and more long-term way of using sauna salt as part of active sauna bathing. Once the previous sauna ritual salt has been almost fully used, a new KIUASSUOLA™ Sauna Ritual Salt is added into the soapstone base, allowing the ritual to continue naturally as part of regular sauna use. The refill structure is designed to support long-term sauna rituals, repeat sauna use and a calmer relationship with sauna materials and atmosphere over time. Natural Materials & Finnish Soapstone ILMARI KUURA™ is made from genuine Finnish soapstone exposed to continuous heat, moisture and temperature variation during sauna use. Because natural soapstone responds gradually to the sauna environment over time, subtle patina, tonal variation and surface changes are considered part of the authentic character of the material.
