Medium Bowl

This bowl was handcrafted in Mashiko by Shoichi Kamiya using local red clay. Finished with a traditional Mashiko glaze, it features beautiful two-tone coloring unique to each piece. The bowl is a versatile size, perfect for serving small portions of salad, yogurt, fruit, and other side dishes. Shoichi Kamiya (1948–2014) apprenticed under Living National Treasure Tatsuzo Shimaoka and later spent more than twenty years working in his workshop before establishing his own studio. His pottery reflects the honest beauty of everyday use, shaped by decades of dedication to traditional craftsmanship and a deep respect for the spirit of mingei. Working primarily with local Mashiko clay and glazes made from locally sourced materials, Kamiya created pottery rooted in the landscape and traditions of his hometown.
