No vernalization needed. Watch my full planting guide on YouTube HERE. โ๏ธ Hot Climate Gardeners (mild winters, no snow areas) You must vernalize your garlic to grow full, well-developed bulbs. Refrigerate your seed garlic as soon as it arrives and keep it refrigerated all the way until planting day. Plant in November or December. Watch my full planting guide on YouTube HERE. ๐ง Choose Your Variety Use the drop-down menu to select your variety or bundle. Vietnamese Purple (Deerfield Purple): A rare and stunning hardneck variety with impressively large, flavorful bulbs and beautiful purple-streaked wrappers. Rich, bold, and complex flavor that garlic lovers will appreciate. While conventional wisdom says hardneck garlic doesn't perform well in warm southern climates, I grow Vietnamese Purple right here in Florida and get big, gorgeous bulbs every season. If you've been told you can't grow hardneck in the South โ this variety is proof that you can. Elephant Garlic: Technically more closely related to leeks than true garlic, Elephant Garlic produces oversized bulbs with a mild, slightly sweet flavor. Perfect for roasting whole, slicing fresh, or anywhere you want garlic presence without the intensity. A crowd favorite and an absolute showstopper in the garden. If you've struggled with hardneck or softneck varieties, Elephant Garlic is an easier, more forgiving option. ๐ง How Much Should You Order? Option Vietnamese Purple Elephant Garlic ยฝ lb ~15โ20 cloves ~4โ6 cloves 1 lb ~30โ40 cloves ~8โ12 cloves Garlic Sampler Bundle (ยฝ lb of each) โ 10% off! Great for trying both varieties side by side. Garlic Grower's Bundle (1 lb of each) โ 10% off! Best value for the serious home gardener who wants a bigger harvest. ๐ Spacing note: Cloves are planted 6 inches apart. A 1 lb bag of Vietnamese Purple (~30โ40 cloves) plants a bed about 15โ20 feet long. Elephant Garlic cloves are much larger, so a pound plants a shorter but equally impressive bed. ๐ง What You'll Receive Premium seed garlic shipped as whole bulbs, ready to break into individual cloves at planting time.
