reverse culatta sling bag

the sling bag has been hand cut from a butter soft 3.2mm vegetable tanned reverse horse culatta leather with a visible layer of subdermal cordovan and a rotten corpse matte black object dyed finish, implemented over a 72 hour period. culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanned leather is an ancient artisanal process that hinges on the delicate balance between timing and temperature. like a fine aged whiskey time is key, the careful balance of time allows the natural tannins such as tree bark to infuse, yielding rich colours and unparalleled durability. controlled cooling plays a crucial role in achieving that coveted texture and suppleness you come to expect. crafted with a triple piece pattern construction without the use of machines the leather cross body bag is hand sewn inside out over a 30 hour period, with our signature overlocked seams forming the geometric shape of the body, using a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed Japanese linen thread. each of the stitch holes have been individually spaced and punched by hand. a riri closed end zipper closure to the main compartment is complimented by a small rear pocket to the rear with a loose weave french linen lining. the zipper sliders are adorned with hand forged .925 sterling silver zipper pulls that have been slow oxidised over a 10 hour period. the unlined interior showcases the flat hammered seams and signature branding patch. hand forged iron strap holders and buckle anchor the strap in place and allow it to be adjusted. the strap is double layered for comfort and features our signature deconstructed panels. each piece comes in a hand made leather box. custom leathers, sizes and finishes are available upon request.
