Guji Hambela
Roasted for: Espresso Tasting Notes: Peach, Sultana, Brown Sugar Country: Ethiopia Region: Hambela Wamena, Guji Variety: Ethiopian Landrace Process: Natural Elevation: 1900-2100 masl About the Producer This coffee is produced by approximately 600 smallholder farmers in the Hambela region, each contributing cherries from small plots averaging around 120 coffee trees. Farming here is deeply traditional and family driven. Entire households are involved in the harvest, moving through the farm multiple times to ensure only fully ripe cherries are picked. This selective approach is key to building the sweetness and clarity that defines the final cup. Compost and organic material are used throughout the farms to maintain soil health, creating a balanced ecosystem that supports long term quality and sustainability. About the Lot Cherries are delivered to local washing stations where they are carefully sorted before drying. As shown on the card , quality is driven by strict ripe cherry selection and repeated sorting throughout the process. The coffee is then dried on African raised beds, typically over several weeks, allowing the fruit sugars to slowly infuse into the beans while maintaining clarity. This natural process results in a cup that opens with soft peach and dried fruit sweetness, followed by a smooth brown sugar finish. Balanced, comforting and easy to enjoy, it’s a versatile espresso that works beautifully both black and with milk.
