SET OF FOUR STONEWARE BEAKERS (ONE)
Four stoneware beakers, each with its own distinctive quality, making a harmonius set. Thrown on my potter’s wheel and made from an iron rich, flecked clay, they are glazed in an Ash wood glaze with black oxide marks. Each has irregular indentations, formed when lifting from the wheel. These beakers have a narrow base and gently widening rims and are the perfect size for a flat white coffee or used as a set, taking the place of water glasses at the dinner table. All my work is made in my garden studio in Brighton. Each piece is made using a mix of clays that give me the warmth and homeliness I’m seeking in my work. I mix my own glaze using ash that has been collected from our wood burning stove over the winter. The ash comes from the wood of Ash trees that are sourced locally in East Sussex. Marks are made using a mix of oxides, mainly consisting of iron oxides with a small percentage of other oxides added (all of which are ethically sourced). Handwashing is recommended, to avoid chipping. However, all my products are dishwasher and microwave safe. Stoneware. Made in the United Kingdom. Each piece has been made by me, by hand. Due to the handmade nature, there are variations and irregularities in colour, size and shape. 8cm ⌀ x 8cm H (approx). Holds approx 200g or 7oz.
