Pete Jolly - Little Bird [used]
1963 work by Pete Jolly, an American West Coast jazz pianist who was re-evaluated in the rare groove context. His playing, which further modernized the "essence" of West Coast jazz, is light and elegant. Yet, his solid and impactful touch is impressive. Combined with the charming jacket design, at first listen, it appears to be a stylish and poppy piano album, but its greatest appeal lies in the "surprisingly aggressive" elements, such as unexpected fast passages, magical modulations, and sharp rhythms. The album includes a total of 9 tracks, such as "Little Bird" (A1), which incorporates a bossa nova feel into swing, and "My Favorite Things" (B3), which shines with its unique and aggressive interpretation. This 1991 reissued edition can be enjoyed in mono, based on the original Ava master.
