The in-between. The not-yet. The quietly extraordinary moment before everything changes. This is the chrysalis of a painted lady butterfly — hand-carved and printed on kraft paper in black ink. The edition size is 6 because that's exactly how many pieces of paper I had, and exactly how many active chrysalises are hanging under my deck right now. I don't think that's a coincidence. It feels like this whole season is trying to tell me something about transformation, and this little print is part of that conversation. Smallest edition in the series at 6. Once they're gone, they're gone — just like the chrysalis stage itself. Signed and numbered.
